Spice Girls is a British girl group founded in 1994. The group songs hit global charts in the 1990s. The band wants to call themselves Spicy Girls, but they found a porn website of the same name, so the group changes the title. The group members are Melanie Brown, Melanie Chrisholm, Emma Bunton, Geri Halliwell, and Victoria Beckham. They created new trends in the world of music. The success of Spice Girls often compared to The Beatles.

Inception

In the 1990s, Bob and Chris Herbert from Heart Management want to create a girl band. To find girls, they organized an audition in the Dance work studios. More than 400 women attended the audition. After several weeks of work, they found girls named Adams, Brown, Chrisholm, Halliwell, and Stephenson.

The band was called Touch and moved to Maidenhead, Berkshire. They start practicing songs that were written by John Thirkell and Erwin Kellies. In 1995, the group left Heart Management because of frustration with the firm. Eliot Kennedy approached the group. In September 1995, the band signed a deal with Virgin Records.

In 1996, the start writing and record tracks for their debut album. The Spice Girls start touring the west coast of the United States.

Evolution

The debut single of Wannabe was released on 07 July 1996 in the United Kingdom. After a few weeks, they release music videos of the song, which was directed by the Johan Camitz. The video became popular and aired several times a week.

The group first interviewed was with Paul Gorman. The Spice Girls released Say You’ll Be There released in the United Kingdom and Europe in October. The song charted number one for two weeks. Their song 2 Became one sell more than 462,000 copies in the first weeks and became the fastest-selling single of the year.

In November 1996, the first album Spice in Europe of the group released. In Britain, the album sold more than 1.8 million copies and became the fastest-selling British album. It became the biggest selling album of 1997 in the United States. It received 7x Platinum by the RIAA.

The band performed in a concert of 40,000 fans in Istanbul, Turkey.  They launched The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Their first album sold seven million copies in Europe, Canada, and the United States. The group performed in MTV Europe Music Awards in 1997.

In 1998, they performed in Spiceworld tour in Europe and North America. In 1998, the group released a new song named Goodbye in Christmas 1998. The song topped the singles UK chart. The group took an eight-month break from the studio and returned in August 1999. They start working in the third and last studio album. Spice Girls collaborated with a producer like Rodney Jerkins, Jam, and Terry Lewis.

In November 2000, the third studio album of the group released. The album received a light response from the audience. The album ranked 39 in the Billboard 200 albums chart in the United Kingdom. The third album was not much successful as compared to other collections and sold only five million copies. In 2001, the group announced an indefinite break and started focusing on their career.

In 2007 November, the group returned with single Headlines. The first performance of Spice Girls after hiatus was at the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. They formed two songs in the event. In 2012, the group reunited again to launch the Viral Forever at the press conference in London. The talented Girl’s group performed in the 2012 Summer Olympics Closing Ceremony. They also appeared In documentary Spice Girls’ Story: Viva Forever$, which was released on 24 December 2012.

The group celebrated the 20th anniversary of their first single Wannabe through a video. The group song For Her was leaked online in 2016. In 2019, the group member Brown, Bunton, Chisholm, and Halliwell announced their tour, but Victoria did not join the trip because of her works. During the tour, the group earned $78.2 million. They collaborated with Mr.Men t create books, cups, bags, and coasters of the Spice Girls.
