The birth of CNCO began when Erick Brian Colon, Christopher Velez, Zabdiel De Jesus, Richard Camacho, and Joel Pimentel auditioned for the first season of La Banda, a televised singing competition which started on Univision in September 2015. They received 75% of votes from the public during auditions except for Colon, though he was saved by Martin. The people went through different phases of the show under different bands and even sometimes, as individuals.

The five members were united as a band in the finale. The band won a recording contract of five years with Sony Music Latin. They performed the song “Devuelveme Mi Corazon,” which included performances by Pitbull, Fifth Harmony, Wisin, and video congratulations from One Direction.

On January 29, 2016, they released their debut single, “Tan Facil,” which debuted on different billboards at top positions, and on January 30, 2016, they held their first concert in ‘The Fillmore Miami Beach.’ The band released another single, “Quisiera,” which peaked on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs at number 29. The band also began doing opening acts on Ricky Martin’s One World Tour.

The band continued to rise to glory, they were able to perform the national anthem at Yankee Stadium, and the band also began being nominated for various awards. The band went on to achieve a lot of success, and their fan base continued to grow very fast. The band also attracted the attention of big co-operations such as Toyota.

The band went on to have their Mas Alla Tour and CNCO World Tour in Cochabamba, Bolivia, and which also covered around 15 countries, including 40 performances in Central and South America, Mexico, Portugal, Spain, and the United States. In 2018, the band released their highly anticipated second self-titled album, CNCO, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Top Latin Albums and entered number 33 on the Billboard 200.

On May 16, 2018, the band signed a new management deal with Walter Kolm Entertainment after being managed by Ricky Martin for nearly three years. The band went on to release a couple of other hit singles such as “Pretend” and “De Cero” and released some songs with other huge artists such as Meghan Trainor.

On January 21, CNCO announced its new tour “Press Start” that was set to begin on the 30th of May in 2020 at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, Puerto Rico, and end in Chicago, Illinois. It is, however, unfortunate that they could not do it because of the coronavirus pandemic.
