As of September 2021, Clarence Avant has a net worth of $55 million. When he first moved to LA, he lived in a mostly-black area called Baldwin Hills. When Venture Records founder visited him in Los Angeles, he forced him to move to Beverly Hills to be more in the center of the entertainment world.

Clarence could not afford a house in Beverly Hills at the time, so Glaser lent him the down payment. When Glaser died in 1969, Clarence learned that the debt was forgiven. He still lives in the house to this day, and it is likely worth $7-10 million on its own.

Avant does not look like a mogul, a visionary, a Svengali of the music industry, but then reality always has a way of confounding our presumptions and assumptions. You may not believe half the stories he tells, but he is so convincing, ’til you got to raise your mug and say, “I’ll drink to that.”

Like Ralph Ellison’s fable little man whom he envisioned in a train station, the company apparatchik who kept the depot doing all the necessary functions so that as the trains went in and out, everything ran smoothly, including shipping out what had to be sent around the world, and receiving passengers and parcels from whencesoever they were from.
