Charles Dance was born on 10th October 1946, in Redditch, Worcestershire, in England. His mother was Eleanor Marion, who worked as a cook, and his father was Walter Dance worked as an electrical engineer. His mother was a second wife to his father, and he had an older half- brother, David, from his father’s previous marriage. His father died when he was only three years old. He was raised in Plymouth, Devon, by his mother, where he received his education.
He attended Widely Technical School and later Plymouth College of Art. Dance studied graphic design and photography from Leicester College of Art.
