On 27 April 1966, Yoshihiro Togashi was born in a small city in the Yamagata Prefecture named Shinjo. He is the second born of his other two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. His parents owned a paper shop, which is still open to date.

In 1990, he published one of the most popular series named Yu Yu Hakusho. This series features a character, Yusuke Urameshi, who is a teenager, a student more interested in fighting than attending classes. He is later killed while saving a child, but the child survives.
