On 27 April 1966, Yoshihiro Togashi was born in a small city in the Yamagata Prefecture named Shinjo. He is the second born of his other two siblings, an older sister and a younger brother. His parents owned a paper shop, which is still open to date.

His manga artistry, which he is known for today, started at elementary school. A  Manga is a graphic novel or a comic created in a specific Japanese style. At the time, no one could have known that it would become his profession, as he was doing it casually.

Later, however,  they announced that they were together at a comics convention in Tokyo. They also issued a  comic book that they had worked on together, which was self-published. Consequently, marriage was also made public

On 6 January 1999, Yoshihiro finally married the beautiful Naoko Takeuchi. The couple has two children.

Career

A big break of Yoshihiros career was at the early age of 20 when he authored a manga ‘Jura no Mizuki’. In the same year, his other manga dubbed ‘Buttobi Straight’ won the Tezuka Award, considered the most prestigious award for new comic artists in Japan. Consequently, through the next few years, he started publishing series through which his ills grew.

In 1990, he published one of the most popular series named Yu Yu Hakusho. This series features a character, Yusuke Urameshi, who is a teenager,  a student more interested in fighting than attending classes. He is later killed while saving a child, but the child survives. The series lasted 175 chapters and has been translated into English.

In 1998, he created another series that was a hit-  HunterX Hunter. This series features a character, Gon Freecss, a young boy, with a desire to follow family tradition and become a Hunter and search for his father.

He also wrote a manger containing two chapters, named Akuten Wars, which Hachi Mizuno illustrated.

The very first one was in 1986 when the manga titled ‘Jura No Mizuki ‘ earned him an honourable mention in the 1st annual Hop Step Award Selection magazine, published by Shueisha, in 1988.
