Well, here is an overview of how WWE came to be one of the biggest entertainment companies in the world and its net worth.

WWE Inception

WWE origins can be traced back to the 1950s when Vincent J. McMahon started Capitol Wrestling Corporation (CWC). Capitol Wrestling Corporation soon after joined National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and established dominance, especially in the Northeastern United States. Things worked for them in a while, but disputes arose, and Vincent J. McMahon and promoter Toots Mondit walked away and established World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF). When WWWF was established, this became the official beginning of WWE.

WWE Evolution

Vincent J. McMahon sold CWC to his son Vincent K. McMahon and his wife Linda in 1982, and the two changed wrestling business. The young McMahon hired superstars such as Roddy Piper, Hulk Hogan Don Muraco, among others who made the WWF gain a lot of traction. McMahon would later popularize the WWF through national wide tours and introduce concepts such as WrestleMania, which was a huge success.

Between 1993 and 1997, business was not so good for WWF as many of its wrestlers deserted the company and joined a rival company World Championship Wrestling (WCW). During this period, a new generation of wrestlers was being groomed to take over from the pioneers, and this made many of them move to WCW. However, after the debut of Monday Night Raw, the company started experiencing some success. In 1998 the company would later change its name to World Wrestling Federation Entertainment Inc. These changes came with the introduction of another program, the Smackdown show, and also WWF becoming a public traded company.

It was until 2002 when World Wrestling Federation decided to change its name to World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), a name the company has kept to date.

WWE has a network called WWE Network, which was launched in 2014. As of today, the network has over 1 million subscribers making it among the fastest-growing digital subscription services in the world. On the network, all WWE live pay per view events, reality shows, classic matches, documentaries, among others, are featured on it.

Today the company is owned by Vince McMahon, who is also the CEO. His daughter Stepanie McMahon is the chief branding officer, while Triple H is the WWE vice president of talent, live events, and creativity.
