William Theodore Katt was born on February 16, 1951, in Los Angeles to his parents Bill Williams and Barbara Hale. His parents were professional television and film actors who starred in several popular movies of the 1950s.
Katt spent most of his childhood days in the San Fernando Valley. He completed his graduation from the Army & Navy Academy, Carlsbad, California.
He was interested in acting from childhood as both of his parents were trained actors. He used to imitate his favorite characters in front of his parents.
Katt married his wife, Deborah Kahane, in 1979. Together they are the parents of two children, Clayton and Emerson. The couple divorced in 1992. The following year, he got married to Danielle Hirsch with whom he has a daughter, Dakota, as well as a stepson, Andrew.
