He began his musical career as a folk singer and guitarist. Sotto began his career as the main vocalist of the disco-funk band VST & Company. In the early 1970s, he co-starred with his brothers Tito and Val in OK Lang’s IBC 13 comedy show.
This is where he met Joey de Leon, another comic who encouraged the brothers to join him. Tito, Vic, and Joey (TVJ) were thus established, and they cast in Iskul Bukol, TVJ (Television’s Jesters), Rock and Roll 2000, and hosted ‘Eat Bulaga!’ The series Iskul Bukol catapulted them to national prominence as comedians.
Other TV and film opportunities soon knocked on the trio’s gate. Tito, Vic, and Joey launched the noontime show ‘Eat Bulaga!’ in 1979, competing with the more renowned ‘Student Canteen’. ‘Eat Bulaga!’ quickly dethroned ‘Student Canteen’ in the ratings. The group is still featured in both Holy Week Dramas and Eat Bulaga!‘s comic variety show throughout the Lenten season.
