Early Life & Biography
Tracy Lynn Curry was born on June 10, 1968, in Dallas, Texas. He started to show interest in music at a very young age. He began his career during his teen years as a member of ‘Fila Fresh Crew.’ He was known as Doc-T in that group. They made four songs that featured on the album ‘N.W.A and the Posse’ in 1987. Curry later moved to L.A. and become a member of ‘N.W.A’ and ‘Ruthless Records.’

He has two daughters, one with his ex-girlfriend, Erykah Badu, named Puma Sabti Curry, and one with another of his ex-girlfriend, named Amber Lynn Curry. Curry started his music career at a very young age as a member of ‘Fila Fresh Crew.’ He produced four songs while being a member of that group. Curry, later moved to Los Angeles and joined ‘N.W.A’ and ‘Ruthless Records.’
He used the name The D.O.C after he was signed to Eazy-E’s Ruthless Records. Curry wrote for N.W.A’s debut studio album, ‘Straight Outta Compton’ and also for Eazy-E’s debut studio album, ‘Eazy-Duz-It.’ He also co-wrote the song ‘Keep Watchin’.
In 1989, Dr. Dre produced his solo debut album, ‘No One Can Do It Better,’ which did very well among the critics and was at no.20 on the Billboard 200 for two consecutive weeks. The album also reached Platinum status. The collection consists of five singles and four music videos
Unfortunately, in November 1989, Curry was in a fatal car accident. He spent two and a half weeks in the hospital and required 21 hours of surgery. The D.O.C was not able to speak for about a month and was left with a loud voice. He continued to write for N.W.A. and co-wrote many songs.
In 1991, he left ‘Ruthless Records’ along with Dr. Dre to join ‘ Death Row Records,’ where he worked with Snopp Dogg on his debut album ‘Doggystyle,’ he also added some vocals on the song ‘Serial Killa.’
In 1997, he founded his Dallas-based record label, ‘Silverback Records.’ In 2003, he released his 3rd album ‘Deuce.’ He made his presence on this album minimal. Deuce had only one single entitled ‘The Shit.’ ‘Deuce’ primarily focused on new artists and their talent.
He wrote lyrics for Snopp Dogg’s album ‘Tha Blue Carpet Treatment.’ He announced in December 2006 that he is working on his new album ‘Voices.’
