The Chainsmokers is an America-based duo made up of Alex Pall and Andrew Taggart. Their debut EP titled Bouquet was released in October 2015. The year in 2016, they had released a hit single, #Selfie. The EP contained singles such as Closer, Don’t Let Me Down, and Roses. Their second EP titled Collage’s release was in November 2016.
In April 2017, they released their debut studio album, Memories…Do Not Open.
Early Life
Initially, the members were former DJ Rhett Bixler and Alex Pall. In 2012 under the management of Adam Alpert, it was reformed as an EDM duo. This improvement happened in New York City. The manager introduced Pall to Taggart. Before they met, they were doing various activities. The former was working at an art gallery in Chelsea. On the other hand, the latter was an intern at Interscope Records.
While Alex was a student at New York University, Taggart was studying at Syracuse University. Andrew had had an interest in Alex, then known as DJing. Thus, once he was informed that there was a vacancy in the Chainsmokers duo since Rhett had left, he did not hesitate to try his luck. He left Manila for New York and became a member. However, they did not change the name of the group.
Career
The duo collaborated with Priyanka Chopra and produced a single called Erase. Chopra is an Indian actress, as well as a recording artist. The following year, they released another one titled The Rockie.
Their first live performance was in September 2014 during the opening of Timeflies at Terminal 5. In December of the previous year, they had released a single called #Selfie. Dim Mak Records re-released it in January 2014, and it was also streamed to Republic Records. Later that year. They released Kanye featuring sirenXX.
In 2015, together with Great Good Fine Ok, which is an American synthpop group, released a single, Let You Go. In April of the same year, they were signed with Disruptor Records, which is associated with Sony Music Entertainment. Their manager Adam assisted in that.
Their debut EP Bouquet was released as soon as they got signed. Some of its singles included Until You Were Gone, Good Intentions, New York City, Waterbed, and Roses. Later they released a single Don’t Let Me Down featuring Daya. Other singles were Inside Out featuring Charlee and Closure featuring Halsey. In 2016, the Chainsmokers recorded All We Know featuring Phoebe Ryan and their second EP, Collage. That same year, they had improved from position 97 to 18 in the annual list of the Top 100 DJs by DJ Magazine.
In 2017, they released Paris, Something Just Like This, in collaboration with Coldplay as well as their debut album titled Memories….Do Not Open. That same year, they held a tour named Memories Do Not Open Tour.
