He completed his graduation from Robbinsdale Cooper High School and later decided to join the United States Marine Corps.
Steve met the love of his life, Robyn Peterman, in 1991 during a national tour of Bye bye birdie. She is the daughter of clothier J. Peterman. They got married in 1994.
