While still a young boy, Steve’s family soon moved to Tennessee, and later to Michigan, where he spent his childhood. Steve grew up together with his elder brotherDave, with whom he worked with briefly in a band called the Plague.
Morse enrolled in he Academy of Richmond County, where he met bassist Andy West whereby they formed the Dixie Grit. He would later enrol at a local Catholic School where he finished 11 grade, and he subsequently enrolled at the University of Miami, School of Music. At one time, Morse worked as a commercial airline pilot.
