Sony, also known as Sony Corporation, is a Japanese conglomerate of electronics, gaming, and entertainment. It has been in this industry for over 70 years now, starting in 1946 in May. It currently has over 13,800 employees working under the brand and is constantly bringing in new products to suit the needs of the customers of today.

Sony was founded by Akio Morita and Masaru Ibuka on the 7th of May, 1946. It started during the second world war, but back then, it was just an electronics shop and was called Tokyo Tsushin Kogyo. It was renamed as Sony in 1958, 12 years after they released their first product – Type G and the TR-55 transistor radio in 1955.
Sometimes in these two decades, the reach of Sony products increased and teenagers were all eager to buy the Sony products which were of impeccable quality as it was not only stylish but also portable.
Later, Sony also began a life insurance company. They further brought in their most valuable product – the Walkman. It completely revolutionized the way people heard music, i.e., while walking and traveling around. Their gaming consoles and playstations were also a big hit among teenagers as they gave them a platform to play their favorite video games on.

Its entertainment sector includes Sony motion pictures and Sony music entertainment.
Sony aims to bring maximum customer satisfaction by bringing in products that inspire its users and fulfill all their curiosity. Their mission is to provide entertainment to every single person by creating not just excellent products but also experiences with their innovations.
As a part of their Corporate Social Responsibility program, they conduct campaigns by making more people aware of Sustainable Development Goals, a project for Forest Conservation in Sumatra, and a Science Program for education among the less fortunate.
Sony is thus almost a Jack of all Trades and has almost taken over the technology industry with its products and services offered.

Sony ranks 23 among the Top Regarded Companies and has secured the 96th position among sales and 193rd position when it comes to assets. Sony has been awarded as Rep of the Year several times and has also excelled continuously when it comes to its sales. In 2017 itself, Sony won Good Design Award, Red Dot Award, iF Design Award and National Commendation for Invention, which is Japan’s invention and Innovation prize.

Its revenues come from its wide range of products, such as gaming consoles, PCs, televisions, laptops, walkmans, digital cameras, semiconductors, imaging products, and solutions, and many others. It has sales worth $70 Billion, and the largest share comes from game and network services, while the lowest currently comes from semiconductors and other such components.
Sony is a very old company and seeing their products, policies, and management, it is safe to say that it is here to stay for a very long time. Like any other company, it has had its ups and downs, but it has managed to have its significant market share.
It is collaborating with musicians to give the world a whole new experience and will soon be introducing Artificial Intelligence and Robotics into their processing and final goods.
