On February 22, 1955, Shri Thanedar was born in Belgaum, Karnataka, India. He grew up in a low-income family as his father was forced to retire at the age of 55 while Thanedar was only 14 years. Thanedar later worked odd jobs to support his family of eight. He earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry at the age of 18 years and later attended a master’s program at the University of Bombay.
