When he was a teenager, Farha moved to the United States after the Lebanese Civil War broke out. In 1977, he attended the University of Kansas after settling in Wichita, Kansas, and graduated with a degree in business administration. Farah then moved to Houston, Texas to work with his brother. a year after moving to Houston, Farha played his first game of poker and won several thousand dollars that forced him to quit his job in 1990 to play poker full-time.
