Roberta Shore was born Roberta Jymme Schourop in Monterey Park, California, US on April 7, 1943. They were raised in an adjacent city of San Gabriel in Los Angeles together with her siblings Dorothy Madeline Schourup and her younger brother Stanley Wilford Schourup.

Her parents brought them up in the Christian faith. She discovered that she was a performer and singer at the age of 10 years and so she went ahead to perform and sing in San Gabriel and the surrounding city. When she was 11 years old she passed through Tex William’s television program and she became a regular performer on The Pinky Lee Show.
