Ridley Scott was born on 30 November 1937, in South Shields, North East England, shortly before World War 2 broke out, to parents, Elizabeth Williams and Colonel Francis Percy Scott. Since Ridley’s father was an officer in the Royal Engineers; he used to be away from his family for long durations, while Ridley was growing up. Ridley Scott was the second child born to his parents with Frank Scott being his elder brother who joined the British Merchant Navy when Ridley was still very young due to which he grew up mostly without the presence of an earlier male figure in his early life.
