Born as Dequantes Devontay Lamar on the 4th day of October in 1989 in Atlanta city, in the state of Georgia. He went to Ronald McNair High School and was active in baseball for almost four years while he was at school. He was also interested in literature and creative writing from an early age.
He aspired to play as a leadoff hitter as well as center fielder professionally. He did play at the college level when he was still a freshman and was also able to grab a scholarship for Fort Valley University.
