Rex Andrew Sinquefield was born on 7^th September 1944, in St. Louis, Missouri, in the USA. He had a younger brother Jerry, but unfortunately, their father died when he was five years old. Their mother could not be able to raise them as they lived in poverty, and they were placed in Saint Vincent Children Home. It is from here that he gained self-discipline as the nun of the school was very strict as they were forced to wash dishes and clean the rooms.

Rex wanted to become a priest, and after graduating in 1962 from Bishop DuBourg High School, he joined Cardinal Glennon College, a seminary school. He later joined Saint Louis University, where he studied Economics and also the University of Chicago, where he earned his MBA.
