Rahul Sharad Dravid was born on January 11, 1973, in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. He is the son of Sharad Dravid and Pushpa Dravid. His mother is a professor at the University Visvesvaraya College of Engineering and his father used to work for a company. He also has a younger brother, Vijay and his mother tongue is Marathi.
Rahul attended St. Joseph’s Boys High School in Bangalore, Karnataka. He has even received his bachelor’s degree in commerce from Bangalore’s St. Joseph’s College of Commerce. Later he earned his MBA from St. Joseph’s College of Business Administration.

Rahul Dravid started playing cricket when he was only 12 years old. Later he went on to represent Karnataka at the under-15 level. He has even represented the state in Under-17 and Under-19 levels.
He has also played cricket for the school team and scored a century. In 1991, he made his Ranji Trophy debut. This made him get selected for the Duleep Trophy. In October 1994, he got a call to be a part of the Indian National Cricket Team.
However, he made his debut in April 1996 against Sri Lanka. In the match, his performance was not impressive but went on to take two catches. Dravid also made his test debut and started representing India in many series.
