Raffi was born on 8th July 1948 in Cairo, Egypt. His parents were Armenians, and when he was ten years old, his family moved to Canada and settled in Toronto in Ontario. His father’s name was Arto Cavoukian and worked as a photographer while he has not yet disclosed his mother.

His mother gave him the name Raffi, the name of a popular poet who was called Raffi. He has an older brother, Onnig Cavoukian, a photographer like his father, and his younger sister, Ann Cavoukian, worked together with her elder brother. His mother died of abdominal cancer, and his father died twelve hours later. Raffi has not disclosed his educational background.

Raffi was once a married man to Deborah Pike, although they later separated for reasons which have not been disclosed up to now. He worked in various other coffee houses, and in 1972, he started becoming famous.

His invitation to sing at Toronto Public School was his success to start entertaining children. Some of his songs that are dedicated to children include, Baby Beluga, Banana phone, Animal Songs, Fun Food Songs, and Dog on the Floor, among many other entertaining songs.

Apart from children’s songs, he also produces music to focus on social and environmental surroundings. These themes can also be seen in his writings and lectures. He released a song in 2016, Wave Democracy, which was a dedication to Bernie Sanders, who was running for the US presidency.

He is also known to be the one who started the campaign of child honoring aiming to advocate for children’s rights. This led him to receive an award. In 2012, his Center for child honoring founded the Red Hood Project, which aimed to protect children from bullying and exploitation. He published his book, Light web Darkweb, which talked about three reasons to reform Social Media Before it Reformed Us in 2013. This happened after a teenage, Amanda Todd received some online bullying which led to her suicide in 2012.

Please don’t assume that Raffi lives (you misspelled as leaves) a lonely life simply because he has no children of his own and may be currently unmarried. “Single-shaming” is really boring and people need to get over it. Married life can be a very lonely life with the wrong person and some people with children spend their lives in heartache over the way their children treat them– or the trouble they cause their entire lives. Everything is relative. Raffi seems perfectly happy to me. Personally, I adore him and his music. Raffi…if you’re lonely…call me.
