PUBG, which stands for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, is a popular battle royale game. The game was developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company, Bluehole. In the game, up to 100 players drop onto an island and for weapons to kill others while protecting themselves.
Over time, the safe area of the game’s map and players are forced to survive in a tighter area and kill or be killed, thus creating a winner. Inception
The concept and the design of the game were led by the popular game developer, Brendan Greene. When Brendan left Sony Online, he was approached by Chang-Han Kim of Ginno Games, and a week later, he was made the creative director of blue hole. There was a huge increase in interest for the game extended the entire development for Battlegrounds into Bluehole Ginno Games in September 2017, which was then named to PUBG Corporation with Kim serving as its chief executive officer. In March of 2019, he left the position of the lead designer of the game but stated that he would continue to work as a creative consultant. The PC version of the game was released in 2017.
Evolution
After coming to the PCs, it was time for the time to be launched for consoles and mobiles. The game had its mobile version released in 2018, and the game also had its Xbox one release and PS4 releases in the same year. The following year, a lite version of the game was released for both PC and mobile. In 2020, the game is available on Google Stadia as well. Today, the game is played in Esports competitions as well. The game has been amazingly successful, to say the least, and is considered to have redefined the Battle Royale Genre of games.
Coming to its reception, he game made US$11 million in the first three days of its Windows early access release in March 2017, and by the following month, the game managed to sell over a million copies and by May of 2017, the game sold upwards of 2 million copies. The mobile version of the game had 100 million downloads by August of 2018 and 225 million by October of 2018 and garnered over $1.5 Billion by 2019.
