Pete Carroll, whose full name is Peter Clay Carroll, was born to parents Rita Carroll and James Edward Carroll on 15th of September 1951 in San Francisco, California. He went to Redwood High School, where he was needed to bring a special doctor’s clearance to give a football try out as he was an underweight freshman at the time. Besides football, he played Basketball and Baseball as well during his high school days, and he was awarded the school’s Athlete of the Year during his senior year in 1969. In April of 2009, he was inducted into the Redwood High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Pete Carroll married Wendy Pearl on the 2nd of June 1973, but the marriage couldn’t last long as they divorced in 1975. He then married Glena Goranson on the 21st of May 1976, who he met while working at the University of the Pacific. Glena gave birth to son Brennan Carroll on 20th March 1979, daughter Jaime Carroll on 12th April 1982, and son Nathan Carroll on 24th March 1987. His daughter Jaime Carroll has also attended USC and was a part of Women of Troy’s women’s volleyball team.  Pete’s youngest son, Nathan, has graduated from USC as well and even joined Seahawks in 2010 as an assistant to his father.

After completing his high school education, Pete went to the College of Marin, where he played football for two years.  He was then transferred to the University of the Pacific, where his performance in football was amazing, landing him the All-Pacific Coast Athletic Conference honors in 1971 and 1972. He left the college in 1973 after completing his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in 1973. He then tried out for Honolulu Hawaiians that used to compete in the World Football League at the time, but he wasn’t successful. He then found a job selling roofing materials but left it soon afterward.

During the period between 1973 and 1983, he worked as a graduate assistant for different universities. In the period between 1984 and 1993, he worked as a defensive back coach and defensive coordinator at various NFL clubs namely, Buffalo Bills, Minnesota Vikings, New York Jets, and New England Patriots. In the period between 2000 and 2009, he worked as the head coach for the Trojans’.

In 2010 he joined Seattle Seahawks as their head coach, a position which he still holds and also serves as the executive vice president for the team.   1. Is Pete’s family from the Traverse City, MIchigan area? There are lot of Carrolls there that I went to school with. They look alot alike.
