He did NOT demote “several” police officers. He demoted ONE police chief for a very good reason. After being hired by Mr. Buttigieg, police chief Boykins was found to have committed a crime by performing illegal wiretapping. The tape supposedly has evidence of racism on it. However, Mr. Buttigieg has not listened to the tape as of this current date because the tape is tied up in conflicting court cases
Mr. Buttigieg found out that Mr. Boykins was being investigated by federal authorities regarding the wiretapping. Mr. Boykins agreed to resign at first but then reneged on this. The only option open to Mr. Buttigieg was to demote Mr. Boykins, as Mr. Buttigieg did not have the power to fire Mr. Boykins. This ONE police chief was demoted–NOT several police officers. Had you done proper research, you would not have published this sloppy profile of Pete Buttigieg. It is an insult and an example of terrible journalism.

Mr. Buttigieg hired Police Chief Boykins. AFTER Mr. Boykins was hired, Mr. Buttigieg learned that Mr. Boykins was under a federal investigation for illegal wiretapping. The excuse given for the wiretapping was to detect racial comments over the telephones in the police department. Mr. Boykins agreed to resign at first, but then reneged on this. Mr. Buttigieg then demoted Mr. Boykins, as Mr. Buttigieg did not have the power to fire him.
Hence, ONE POLICE CHIEF was demoted.
Had you done proper diligence in reporting, fact check, and editing, the egregious errors in this article never would have been published.
