Mango went to the United States Military Academy at West Point, then went on to Army ranger school and jump school. He spent five years in the US Army as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Mango attended Harvard Business School and joined the consulting company McKinsey after leaving the Army in 1986. Mango worked with McKinsey for nearly 29 years, rising through the ranks to director before departing in February 2017 to launch his gubernatorial candidacy.
