Nate Ruess, whose full name is Nathaniel Joseph Ruess, was born on the 26th of February 1982 in Iowa City, Iowa, the U.S. to parents, Larry Ruess and Bess Zinger. He has an older sister named Elizabeth Ruess. He suffered from pneumonia multiple times as a child, because of which his family moved to a farm in Glendale, Arizona in 1986. Coming to his education, he has attended the Deer Valley High School in 2000. He used to play in punk bands during his time in school, and after graduating, he decided to pursue a career in music. He then took a job in a law firm to support his musical aspirations.

Nate Ruess began his career in 2000 when he formed the band, The Format with his best friend and popular musician, Sam Means.  In 2002, The Format released a five-song EP, titled EP, on the 9th of August 2002, which brought them local recognition. This led them to be signed by Elektra Records in 2002.

Their popularity grew with the success of their debut album, “Interventions + Lullabies” (2003). In 2005, they released their second EP, “Snails,” but this time, it was with Atlantic Records. They released their second album, “Dog Problems,” on the 10th of July 2006 with their record label, The Vanity Label. However, the group disbanded in 2008. He formed the band, Fun immediately after the disbanding of The Format. Nate formed Fun with Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost.

They released their debut studio album, “Aim and Ignited” in 2009, which garnered positive reviews and captured the 71st position on the Billboard 200. In February of 2012, they released their second album, “Some Nights,” which was an amazing success and sold nearly 3 million copies.
