Nadia was born in Onesti, in Bacau County, Romania. She is the daughter of George and Stephanie Comaneci. Together with her younger brother Adriana, they were raised in the Romanian Orthodox Church after their parents separated, and her father moved to Bucharest. Her mother enrolled her in gym class since Nadia was full of energy and activity that she couldn’t manage her. She graduated from the Politehnica University of Bucharest after a couple of top athletic competition which gave her an opportunity and qualify to coach gymnastics.
