Metta World Peace was born on 13 November 1979 and grew up in Queens, New York. He was born as Ronald William Artest Jr., but on 16 September 2011, he officially renamed himself as “Metta World Peace.” He is the eldest child of his parents. His two younger brothers are Daniel and Isaiah. Initially, he joined La Salle Academy and played his high school level basketball there.
Afterward, he joined St. John’s University and from 1997 to 1999, he played college-level basketball at this University. He graduated in mathematics from St. John’s.
