Ma Long was born on October 20, 1998, in Anshan, Liaoning Province of China. Long started his journey from a tender age of 5 years. The reason behind it was that his parents thought that an injury-free non-contact sport like table tennis was good for his health. His former coaches were Shi Haimei, Bai Xiaodong, and Jiang Wenkun.
