Early Life & Biography
On 16 August 1963, Lawrence Gerard Nassar was born to Fred Nassar and Mary Nassar in Farmington Hills. He graduated from North Farmington High School. He later studied Kinesiology at the University of Michigan, where he earned his undergraduate degree in 1985. His parents are of Lebanese descent. On July 11, 2017, Larry pleaded guilty, federal; on November 22, 2017, he also pleaded guilty, Ingham County. On November 29, 2017, pleaded guilty, Eaton County. His criminal charge included receiving child pornography, possessing child pornography, and tampering with evidence.
This was considered as first-degree criminal sexual conduct (10 counts in two counties). Penalty involved de facto life without parole, federal: 60 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release, state penalty, 40 to 175 years in prison. He was imprisoned at incarcerated at United States penitentiary Coleman, federal bureau of prisons. In July 2017, Nassar was sentenced to sixty years in federal prison after pleading guilty to child pornography charges.
On January 24, 2018, he was sentenced to a total of 175 years in another Michigan state prison after he pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual assault to minors. Nassar started working as a student athletic trainer for the women gymnastics team at North Farmington high school at the age of 15 years old. He attended North Farmington High School, where he graduated in 1981. He then joined the University of Michigan, where he studied kinesiology, and he graduated with an undergraduate degree in 1985. During this time, he worked for the university’s football, track and field teams.
Nassar married Stephanie Lyn Anderson on October 19, 1996, at St. John’s Catholic Church in East Lansing. However, they separated after he was arrested on suspicion of sex crimes. They have two daughters and a son. Stephanie was granted a divorce in July 2017 and got full custody of their children, at the time Nassar was being arrested. Nassar was arrested in December 2016, and at that time, he was living in Holt, Michigan. In the same year, he vied for the Holt School Board despite having been publicly charged with sex crimes.
