Career

Larry Hoover began engaging in criminal activities at the age of 12. He began engaging in crimes like thefts and mugging as part of the group, “Supreme Gangsters.” Sometime later, he became the leader of the group.  He then chose to merge his gang with a rival gang led by David Barksdale, and they began to be known as “Black Gangster Disciple Nation.”

They then began engaging in more serious crimes like shooting and assault. By the time he reached his 20s, he had been in and out of prison several times and had also survived multiple shooting attempts on his life. On the 26th of February 1973, he ordered the killing of William ‘Pooky’ Young, a 19-year old person who was charged with stealing money and drugs from the gang.

It was the Gang member, Andrew Howard, who abducted Young and later shot him. As a result, both Larry Hoover and Andrew Howard were charged with murder and sentenced to 150 to 200 years in prison. Consequently, he was sent to Stateville Correctional Center in Crest Hill, Illinois to serve his term. However, this didn’t stop him, and he continued to control the gang from prison. In fact, in 1974, after the death of David Barksdale, he gained control of Chicago’s South Side.

Under his rule, the gang gained control of the South Side drug trade as well. By the early 1990s, he claimed to put his criminal life behind, and the gang began engaging in charity events and political protests. It was later found that these practices were only done for laundering drug money, and no help was being provided by the charities. In 1997, he received a life sentence for drug conspiracy, extortion, and continuing to run the gang from prison.

  1. Hes not going to turn it around. people don’t fucking change. The federal government SHOULD take all his money away since he “earned” it by stealing and murdering people.
