The American-based guitarist was born in Seattle, United States of America, on 4 September 1960. He, however, did not grow in the same town but was raised in the Chicago suburb of Park Forest. He was born to Boniface Thayil, who worked in Chicago after receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering.
