Kapil Sharma was born to a head constable father Jeetendra Kumar Punj and homemaker mother Janak Rani in the lush state of Punjab, India. He grew up in Amritsar along with his two siblings, a brother Ashok Kumar Sharma and a sister Pooja Pawan Devgan.

He graduated from Khalsa College Amritsar, where he first discovered his creative inclinations and developed his passion for singing.
