Jonathan Paul Ive was born on 27 February 1967 in Chingford, London, England. His father, Michael Ive, was a silversmith where he used to lecture at Middlesex polytechnic, Jonathan went to Walton high school, Stafford, and he was studying sculpture and chemistry. He later enrolled at Newcastle polytechnic in new castle, which was later renamed as the University of Northumbria. He was a very bright child in school because he graduated in 1989 with a first-class BA in industrial design.

While designing for the polytechnic, he was awarded by the RSA student’s design, and the small token enabled him to travel and meet other design experts like Robert Brunner. After he returned, he became an intern at the products design agency Robert Weaver group. He proved to be very innovative, which left a lasting impression.
