Chamberlin was the sixth of six kids born on 10 June 1964 in Joliet, Illinois, United States of America. His dad and elder brother Paul both were engaged in jazz bands, performing clarinet and drums, correspondingly. His brother Paul is now a prominent rock drummer with a regional cover band called Chasing Amy. Chamberlin began to play the drums at the age of nine.
