Being born during World War II in Bydgoszcz in a Polish family, Lewan was a music lover and studied music in the Conservatory of Music in Gdansk. Along with serving in the Central Polish Army, he also performed in the opera. He played in the National Philharmonic in Warsaw and several such halls all over Poland and Europe.
