Randi was born in the year 1928 on 7 August in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He is the son of George Randall Zwinge and Marie Alice. He has a younger brother and sister. He started magic after seeing Harry Blackstone Sr. and studying conjuring books after a bicycle accident. He disapproved of doctors who expected he would not walk again. Randi often did not attend classes and, at 17 years of age, dropped out of high school to do conjurer in a carnival roadshow.
