Impractical Jokers is a well-known American joke reality series. It is a hidden camera series which comprises of Brian “Q” Quinn, James “Murr” Murray, Sal Vulcano, and Joe Gatto. They are the member of the troupe called ‘The Tenderloins.’ The Impractical Jokers have been active since December 2011 and is telecasted on TruTV. It differs from other shows as the pranks are performed on unknown people.

The Four members of The Tenderloins went to Monsignor Farrell High School in New York and became good friends. The later formed The Tenderloins, which is a sketch comedy and live improv troupe.

They participated in the competition called “It’s Your Show” on NBC and went on to win it. With the win, they also won the grand prize of $100,000. This led the group to get exposure to television.

The troupe filmed a pilot episode for Spice TV but did not get broadcast. They later decided to begin a series on TruTV called ‘Mission: Uncomfortable’ in 2011.

Originally named as ‘Mission: Uncomfortable,’ Impractical Jokers was based on jokesters skills. Their pilot episodes were recorded on iPhones and were later taken on by NorthSouth Productions. It was decided in April 2011, that the name of the show would be ‘Mission: Uncomfortable’ but was renamed to ‘Impractical Jokers’ later on.

The show included pranks to be performed on strangers, and it got filmed through hidden cameras. After the end of each challenge, the last or the losing joker used to get punished.

The show premiered on December 15, 2011, and was available in 576i picture format. The first season successfully went on until May 2012. In its debut episode, the show was witnessed by over 1.52 million people in the United States alone. The second season was available in the picture format of 1080i. Season 2 of the show began from September 2012 until December 2013.

The third season lasted from January 2014 to October 2014. From January 2015 to October 2015, it had its fourth season. It completed its fifth season in November 2016. The sixth season of the Impractical Jokers began from February 2017 till November 2017.

Additionally, the show also broadcasted 24 special episodes in February 2012. It’s spin-off called ‘Impractical Jokers: Inside Jokes’ got aired in July 2016. The success of the show also leads to another spin-off known as ‘Impractical Jokers: After Party, ’ which got aired in August 2017.

Its popularity also went on to have international versions on different channels. In the United Kingdom, it was broadcast on BBC Three. The show was known as ‘De Fukkers’ in the Netherlands and was broadcasted on Veronica. In Spain, it is known as “Sinvergüenzas” and got telecasted on Neox. It is broadcasted under many titles across the world.
