Harris Rosen was born on9th September 1939, in Manhattan, New York, in the USA. His father was called Jack Rosen while his mother was called Lee Rosen. He dreamt of entering the hotel industry one day since he was young as he could ask his parents if he can buy a hotel, and they encouraged him by saying yes.

He attended Cornell University, where he graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Science in the School of Hotel Administration. He was the first person in his family to attain a degree. He got enrolled in the United States Army and served for three years in Germany and South Korea, after which he went back to school. He enrolled in the University of Virginia, which was under a scholarship from Hilton Corporate. Here he advanced his degree course.
