Gennady Golovkin was born on April 8, 1982, in Karagandy in the Kazakh SSR, Soviet Union region to father, who was a Russian citizen, who was a coal miner and mother, a Korean, worked as a lab assistant in a school.
He had great chemistry with his older brothers, named Vadim and Sergey, and his twin brother, Maxim. His real-life idols were his older brothers, who urged him into boxing when he was eight years of age.
