Ricky Donnell, better known as Freeway Rick Ross, was born in Tyler, Texas, on 26th January 1960. His father, Sonny Ross, used to work as an army cook while his mother, Annie Mae Mauldin, used sharecropping to earn a living. At the age of 3, his family moved to Los Angeles, California, where he grew up and got his early education. In Los Angeles, he schooled at Susan Miller Dorsey High School.
While in school, he used to be a member of their tennis team, where he was doing very well. Unfortunately, he couldn’t get any college scholarship because of his illiteracy and, he started selling drugs to earn a living.
