THE KIDS IN NEIGHBORHOOD WAITED FOR CHANCE TO SIT ON STEPS IN HALLWAY. GREAT MEMORIES.
CAPS NEEDED FOR VISION SINCE STROKES.
    STAY SAFE EVERYONE

    • Thank you for sharing this. My aunt Dorri had Polio too and of course suffered with the effects it caused all of her life…never let it stop her though. What a kind
Woman Dions mother must have been.

  2. Dion was a childhood friend of my cousins, the Ricciardi boys, on Belmont Avenue in the Bronx. My aunt often had him for dinner. He was a sweet boy.
Yes, he had difficulty with fame and fortune, quite understandable, as a kid from very humble beginnings. Seems like he turned his life around, not an easy thing to do in the entertainment world. So to the nay sayers, how about kindness and not hate!

  3. I was fortunate to be invited to his very private fiftieth birthday. The Flamingos performed three numbers after dinner. I am a 1950’s follower of Dion plus ‘The Flamingos’ so attending this event is my life’s highlight.

    • I love the flamingos my fav “I only have eyes for you”, I love all Dion’s early work with the belmonts.
His solo work was also excellent. I can’t believe he’s only worth $6 million. With his talent he should be worth $100 million at least. I imagine his handlers took alot from him.

  4. Back in the ’60’s I dated twice Dion’s sister Donna, so she said she was…..I am trying to find out that the song he recorded, Donna Prima donna was about his sister…….Did he have a sister named Donna…?

  5. Going to see him on 7/8, he lived next door to my uncle and friends with my niece and nephew. I remember taking them to the Bronx Zoo an he stepped on a yellow jacket nest and was wearing shorts at the time.

  6. I am tuning into NPR w/ the great radio show “American Roots” and Dion is the host. I love “DOO WHOP” music. Dion was a leader w/ this and gives credit to early African American gospel singers. Now that is street cred y’all! I did not know that his music, new songs, survived our modern age. He is a humble man giving credit and heart felt compliments whenever he can to artists throughout his career. And Dion knows then all! Love U man! Rock on!

  7. Is it so or just a lie that after Dion left the Belmonts, the remaining members waited for him to be at a familiar neighborhood restaurant where they found him and beat him up for leaving the group?
