Dennis Prager was born on 2 August 1948 in Brooklyn, New York, to Hilda Prager and Max Prager. He was raised in a Modern Orthodox Jewish home together with his siblings. He befriended Joseph Telushkin at Yeshiva of Flatbush in Brooklyn, where he had attended.
Dennis joined Brooklyn college and graduated with a major in History and Middle Eastern Studies.
He later joined the Colombia University, School of International and Public Affairs. He also did the same at the University of Leeds. However, he left academic persuasion without finishing a graduate degree. He also left Modern Orthodoxy but remained religious, keeping most of the traditional Jewish practices.
Personal Life
Dennis Prager was involved in several relationships in his lifetime. He married Janice Prager in 1981, but things went south in 1986 when she divorced, he was severely hit that his daily show was closed down. The shock was so serious that Dennis almost got into a depression following this tragic heartbreak. As a result, he went through therapy for a year to resume his healthy lifestyle. He did not leave it there as he went ahead and wrote a book about happiness which proved that he was indeed in a serious problem
Denis never gave up on the romantic relationship, and he found Francine Stone, an actress, and they got married in 1988. They, unfortunately, they broke up in2005 for reasons he did not make public. Dennis Prager`s career began when he was taking his studies in England, and he was recruited by a Jewish group in 1969 to travel to the Soviet Union to interview Jews about their lives after that upon his return a demand built for him to become a speaker on the oppression of the Soviet Jews. He became the national spokesman for the student struggle for Soviet Jewry.
Prager, together with Telushkin published,` the nine questions people ask about Judaism,’ which became a bestseller in 1975.
He was the director of the Brandeis – Bardin Institute from 1976 – 1983, where he worked together with Telushkin. He was hired in 1982 by KABC in Los Angeles to host a talk based on religion every Sunday night, which later became a daily talk show.
He has been hosting a talk show on the KRLA in Los Angeles since the year 1999.
