Dennis DeYoung was born to Maurice and Loraine DeYoung and was brought up from Roseland, Chicago. In 1961, when DeYoung was just 14, he started his career teaming up with two of his neighbor friends Chuck and John Panozzo. In the late 1960s, the trio added two guitarists, James Young and John Curulewski, to their team.
Before becoming Styx in 1970, DeYoung, along with his teammates, renamed their band name as TW4 in 1968. And soon, the band met their success.
