Career

Anderson’s career in monster truck driving was rather accidental. He had built a truck using a 1952 Ford model with a red primer which he later coined as ‘Grave Digger’ after a familiar boast. Later, the vehicle was rebuilt with wider wheels and a silver and blue 1951 Ford panel truck.

When a monster truck that was supposed to enter at its desired time did not show up at a local event, Anderson, who already had enormous tractor tires on the vehicle, offered to crush automobiles in its place. Anderson became interested in monster trucks due to the event’s success.

It is not that his entire career went through without any troubles. There were a lot of injuries that tried to hinder him too. For instance, he had to exclude himself from the entire 1992 Winter Season games because he had a kneecap injury while riding in Chicago. In the same year, he broke several ribs, which caused frequent problems for him in the subsequent ears until recovering.

In 2003, he had to quit the ongoing competition because of a broken hand. During the Monster Jam Finals 8, he had an injured wrist, because of which his son had to continue in his place. These were some of the injuries which were officially reported to the media.
