After having a successful stint in the racing industry, he married the love of his life, Carisa Meyers, in the year 2005. Adam Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Weston Anderson, and Krysten Anderson, now has four children. Adam and Krysten both continue Dennis’ legacy of driving the Grave Digger, while Ryan Anderson drives his own truck, called the Son-uva-Digger.

Although Weston Anderson used to drive his own truck called the Bog Hog, yet very recently, he started driving the Grave Digger in the Arena Championship of the Monster Jam. From 1987 through 1989, Dennis Anderson’s brother, Leslie Anderson, drove Larry Cook’s Texas Toy monster truck. In 1990, Leslie drove Grave Digger 1, and from 1991 to 1993, he drove Grave Digger 5. Leslie Anderson resumed driving in his new giant truck, Bad Santa, in 2019. Leslie Anderson passed away in the fall of 2021.

Anderson’s career in monster truck driving was rather accidental. He had built a truck using a 1952 Ford model with a red primer which he later coined as ‘Grave Digger’ after a familiar boast. Later, the vehicle was rebuilt with wider wheels and a silver and blue 1951 Ford panel truck.

When a monster truck that was supposed to enter at its desired time did not show up at a local event, Anderson, who already had enormous tractor tires on the vehicle, offered to crush automobiles in its place. Anderson became interested in monster trucks due to the event’s success.

It is not that his entire career went through without any troubles. There were a lot of injuries that tried to hinder him too. For instance, he had to exclude himself from the entire 1992 Winter Season games because he had a kneecap injury while riding in Chicago. In the same year, he broke several ribs, which caused frequent problems for him in the subsequent ears until recovering.

In 2003, he had to quit the ongoing competition because of a broken hand. During the Monster Jam Finals 8, he had an injured wrist, because of which his son had to continue in his place. These were some of the injuries which were officially reported to the media.
