David Rubenstein started his career as a lawyer; he was an editor of the University of Chicago Law review. He practiced law in New York. He served as Chief Counsel to the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee’s Subcommittee on Constitutional Amendments. He later served as a deputy domestic policy advisor to then-President Jimmy Carter, and he also worked in private practice in Washington, D.C.

During 1987, he tried his luck in business. He, along with William E. Conway, Jr, and Daniel A. D’Aniello, founded The Carlyle Group. His hard work brought fruits as the firm grew into a global investment with an asset of $23 Billion, consisting of more than 1500 employees, 31 offices on six continents!

He also worked as a financial analyst. He once remarked that by January 2006, this golden period would end. His prediction proved to be accurate as the market collapsed by the end of 2007. Later in May 2008, he again gave speculation that this period of depression will end with the beginning of a new platinum age, and still like last time, his prediction came true.

The biggest mistake was the declining offer to meet Mark Zuckerberg, and he regrets that decision.

During 2018 he came with another revolutionary idea. He formed Declaration Capital, focusing on venture and growth on family-owned businesses.

He did not stop with this him; in October 2019, he published his first book named “The American Story: Interviews with Master Historians (Simon and Shuster). It contained interviews with many historians giving information about their areas of historical expertise.

In October 2016, Rubenstein was also a host to the Television program “The David Rubenstein Show: Peer to Peer Conversations” on Bloomberg TV and many PBS stations.

He not only a businessman but also a kind person who pledged to donate 40 individuals more than half of his wealth. He was among the first to do such charity.
