Early Life

In 1987, Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo and Thomas Bangalter met each other when in Lycée Carnot, Paris. Following that, they began to record demo tapes.

In 1992, they teamed up with Laurent Brancowitz to form the guitar-based group ‘Darlin’’. They branded themselves as ‘The Beach Boys.’ They were later invited to stage shows in the UK. The group got soon disbanded, and following that, Brancowitz exited from the duo.

Both Homem-Christo and Bangalter has also released solo singles and albums. They were influenced by music from various sources. They are noted for their visual components, which are associated with musical productions.

Over time, Daft Punk has changed on many occasions. The duo has never revealed their faces to the public.

In January 1997, Daft Punk released their debut studio album called ‘Homework.’ It peaked at No. 3 in France and went on to sell over 2 million records worldwide. In March 2001, the duo released their second studio album entitled ‘Discovery.’ This, too, became a multiple-platinum certified album.

The duo has released three remix albums ‘Daft Club’, ‘Human After All: Remixes,’ and ‘Tron: Legacy Reconfigured.’ They have also released two video albums and one compilation album.

They have released many hit singles like “Da Funk,” “Indo Silver Club,” “Around the World,” “One More Time,” “Face to Face,” “Harder, Faster, Better, Stronger,” “Derezzed,” “Get Lucky,” “Lose Yourself to Dance,” and “Give Life Back to Music.”

They have appeared as a featured artist for The Weeknd’s “Starboy” and “I Feel It Coming.” The duo has also released 18 music videos.

In 2013, Daft Punk was nominated for the American Music Awards. They won the Austin Film Critics Association Award in 2010. They have won two Billboard Music Awards and have won six Grammy Awards out of 12 nominations. In 2014, the duo won the BRIT Awards.
