He was born on 12 June 1985 and was raised in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, to his parents Michael Harris and Becky Harris. Dorothy Young and Carter Harris are his two siblings who he was raised with. Growing up, Chris was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. His grandfather Richard Yates, who played on the old Radio show The “Louisiana Hayride,” strongly influenced his musical career as would later be observed when Young participated in various children’s theatre productions.

His musical interest continued while he attended Oakland High School, Tennessee, and would sing in the School choir and perform in his home town clubs.
