He was from a humble ground where his mother had to work several jobs to support their family because his father was limited due to is a disability. He has three siblings. He went to John Shaw high school in Alabama, where he played the offensive and defense on the school team—helping the School Team to record 8-3 and entry to the AHSAA playoffs.

In college, Samuels played for the Alabama Crimson Tide Football between the year 1996-1999, he was later named as Consensus first team-All American and won as the best college interior lineman and was given an Outland trophy. Chris began his professional career in the year 2000, with National Football League playing for Washington Redskins.
