Born on August 15, 1995, in Chicago, Illinois, to Alfonzo Cozart and Lolita Carter, Chief Keef was raised by his grandmother in the Washington Park neighborhood of Chicago. His mother was only 16 years old, so there isn’t any information available regarding his father; he got his name from his deceased uncle.
He began rapping using his mother’s karaoke machine to record music at a young age. He went to Dulles elementary school, later joined Banner school, then Dyett high school; however, he dropped out of school before completing a diploma at the age of 15.
